Mary Ruth Dixon had a dream of extending her rubber stamping obsession to an actual business. The sense of community and creativity she experienced in other stamp shops was something she felt would work in the town of Boiling Springs, NC. So in 2005, Mary Ruth and husband Keith opened Dorothy's Stamps-n-Scraps, named in memory of Mary Ruth's mother.

Housed in what has always been a residence, the objective was not just to be a retail store, but also a gathering place. Mary Ruth hoped that what all who entered the shop would sense a comfort and freedom....maybe even a sense of home. She wanted to carry the best products, have the best guest teachers from across the country come and teach, and serve her customers in the best way possible.

Classes are offered at Dorothy's twice a week, on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. The same class is normally offered at both times in order to give time choices for those interested. Classes are offered in card making, jewelry, art canvasses, art journaling, bookmaking, which all involve the latest in stamp and art techniques and products. Guest artists visit our store throughout the year to conduct workshops so our customers can experience the person behind the products.

Another favorite at Dorothy's is our Thursday "Make-n-Take", aka "Therapy Thursdays", aka "Glue-it-and-do-it". This takes place every Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm.. Mary Ruth has everything ready for you to drop-in during those hours, make something and take it with you! Cost varies from $1.50 to $3 depending on the materials used. Be sure to get some homemade goodies from Mary Ruth's kitchen while you are here. You can come in on your lunch hour and make the craft or if you have more time you can sit a spell in the "tea room" and enjoy time with our customers. We also welcome you to browse around the shop and see what is new and on sale!

We also invite you to take advantage of designed "Workshop Nights". For a $5 studio fee, you can bring your own personal projects, spread out in the classroom, have access to the materials in the shop as well as the tools to finish your special creations. We love to host birthday parties, day camps, youth groups and ladies groups. It is great fellowship and creative fun!
